One of the smallest shops in Lynton has moved to Orchard House, a much bigger premises in Queen Street, which had been empty for many years.
The Lyn Valley Dog House is now more visible and has expanded from one room to two retail rooms, enabling an increase in treats in the deli (including canine ice cream parlour) and a room for all things dog – collars, leads, harnesses, bowls, blankets and more.
This also enables it to widen its range of Devon brands, such as The Devon Dog Company, Storeys and Tails, The Artisan Dog Company, Billie & Co and Springer Cottage Soaps, and to introduce more eco-friendly brands such as Paws the Planet and Ocean Leash.
The Lyn Valley Dog House has also announced that Beth from Rulyn Dog Grooming will be joining it. Beth currently works in Barnstaple and is looking forward to working closer to her home in Lynbridge. She will be joined by Kiki and Nimbus, her two dogs.
As well as additional retail space and a grooming area, there will be a room dedicated to creating Welcome Boxes for dog-friendly boutique retreats and monthly subscription for loyal customers who live too far away to pick up their dog treats. There is also a basement, which which will be converted into a ball park and soft play area for dogs to enjoy.
The store’s launch party welcomed local suppliers and supportive friends, and a hamper was given to the Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, its chosen charity of the year.
The shop was officially opened by Jenny Windsor, a local customer who used to run the shop when it was a butcher’s.
